Considering its 5-day development for Gwizz’s Christmas Jam, The South Pole is a resourceful candidate amongst others, creating a horror-themed survival shooter that gives off the vibe of a creative indie-dev product if the creators wish to develop it further.
Its utilization of pixel art, implementation of an upgrade system, and repeatability allow this project to stand out just a little bit more.
Overall, it is a good time killer and a fun little game.
Brilliant game to kill a bit of time. Love the pixel art theme combined with the horror Christmas aura which sends shivers to your core just like your in 'The South Pole'. The combination of the constant waves of enemies and the initial limits in the fire rate and kickback of the gun make it a fun experience with a few unique features which make it stand out such as the fire feature having to stay close to it but also to worry about the kickback of your gun firing you away is a pretty unique idea I haven't seen before. Overall a pretty unique experience and a hidden gem you'll be sure to enjoy.
This game, in a way, is an artwork. It has a strange, nostalgic sense to it, a feeling of old childhood games that is hard to find in todays world. It's a game that requires you to think on your feet, one mistake could be your last. I truly recommend this game for anyone looking for a somehow adrenaline fuelled yet, at the same time, calming experience. Bueno :)
I love this game, it encapsulates a great bone-chilling Christmas atmosphere. The gameplay is smooth, the art feels polished and clean. The music submerses itself within the game's vibe and the sound effects are both amazing and terrifying. The game is a 10/10 for me, well done in creating such a terrifying yet brilliant game :)
